Not completely certain. I know that if the OS can handle >120GB, then there won't be any problems if the enclosure is ATA6 (LBA48). If the enclosure has an older controller, though, it'll still only show up as 137GB. I'm not sure about the other way around (i.e., if the OS cannot handle...

AFAIK Gb ethernet can use the same straight cable. There are some pin difference when you make a crossover cable for Gb, but a straight cable should be fine. Regarding the house, I agree that without more information, it's hard to say exactly what you can do, though chances are that you'll...

Ghosting Boot CD

I may not understand the question, but have you also checked out ultimatebootcd.com? It's similar to Bart's PE, but it uses boot floppy images. The CD can be customized to include other images, so you should be able to add the Ghost images.

Cable Modem and Splitter Problem

I live in a house that has funky pre-1990 coax runs. In order to get my cable modem to work, we were limited to 2 rooms in the house, and we had to drop one of the splitters. Now anytime there is work done in the neighborhood, I almost always lose my connection and have to call in to have them...

Hard Drive not being recognized

Another option to try would be to put the drive in your computer as the primary drive and see if a Windows installer sees it and offers to format it. Definitely extra work, but might be worth a shot. Or depending on which version of Windows you're using, you could possibly use the disk...

Question about external USB hard drives...

I've never had a problem with a DIY external drive, but I've also never bought a pre-made external drive, so I can't compare the two. I've had several external drives using both firewire and USB 2.0, and they have worked flawlessly. AFAIK, the drives used in the pre-made externals are the same...
