Haven't posted here in a loooooong time, hitting tech forums only intermittently these days, but was hoping to expand my search for some hardware into the sale/trade forum here. Am I so far out of date I'm past the cutoff? :)
I'm not a bot and/or schill, I promise. I've just been lurking on [H]...
Interested to hear your results, nolonemo. I've been using an M3A78-EM for about three months now in my HTPC and it has been flawless. The one thing I haven't tried is blu-ray playback as I don't have a blu-ray drive, but what I've read about 780G tells me it should be able to handle playback...
ATI's IGPs support a feature called surround view. When enabled in the BIOS, if an ATI video card is installed, the onboard video stays active and can be used for multi-display output. I've seen it used for three digital displays (two from a discrete video card and one from the onboard)... it...
MSI has fantastic tech support and customer service. I've dealt with them more than others but I've always gotten an e-mail response within a day. Getting spare parts is a snap and they've been a big help in troubleshooting as well (sending a beta BIOS, for example). I've never had to deal with...
Not at all. I'm saying that "this must be why 790 was released so soon after, because omg they knew and won't fix it!!!111one" type of drivel is fun to read.
It's also sensationalist and stereotypical "conspiracy theory" type posting. Some people are having this issue. If it was actually a...
Tattare - No issues with RAID configuration here. I looked over all of the settings and it allows for something to be set as "single drive" while others can be defined in a RAID. If I had more than two hard drives I'd actually go and set it up myself but from what I can see all of the options to...
From that thread it sounds like the 2D desktop acceleration isn't kicking in for some reason. I don't know about what could be causing it because, as I've said, I'm not having the problem. I use Windows XP. I don't have this problem. Conspiracy theories are fun, though.
I do generally agree...
It could be a BIOS thing, potentially fixed in a future update. You'd think something like that would be mentioned in many places if it was a widespread problem... dunno.
I'll have my replacement board tomorrow; I will check out the RAID settings once I get it set back up. I also ordered a...
You're not wrong. There's a list of articles that have been promised but haven't shown up. Off the top of my head are 690G/other integrated chipset roundup and P35 roundup from last year, P43/P45 article as you've stated, the Ubuntu article (and we're a month away from a new version of it...
You can disable the onboard video by installing a video card. Since your add-in card is an ATI one you may also have to go into the BIOS and disable surroundview.
Put the system together over the weekend. Bad news: Scythe's Ninja Plus Rev. B (SCNJ-1100P) does not fit on this motherboard.
The rectangular base makes the heat pipes stick out a little bit too far and they push up against the VRM heatsink next to the processor socket. It's maybe 3mm from...
UPS dropped mine off at work today. Nice looking board. I probably won't be doing anything with it until tomorrow or Friday, though. Have an Athlon X2 5400+ black edition here along with a Sapphire Toxic 4850 and I'm very much looking forward to putting it all together.
