Unless you are pushing more than 3.5GB of VRAM, there is something wrong with that cards VRAM... I used to get the same message when I play BF3/BF4 with a GTX 570 with only 1.5GB of VRAM pushing 2560x1440 with ultra settings in my games.
It doesn't matter - for Nvidia... for people who care about VR and DX12, they will just sell or give away their Maxwell cards and get the Pascal cards = possible Millions of units in sales again.

They announced a NX-VUE24B version without the premium stand but I can't find who is selling it yet.
DisplayPort only carries Audio and Video - no data. Thunderbolt uses DisplayPort AND data carrying technology... so you have to get a Thunderbolt cable.
None of the eBay brands are AMD FreeSync Certified. The only AMD FreeSync Certified are on AMD's website which they updated recently. So these eBay brands may have adaptive-sync that can work with AMD cards and FreeSync drivers, but the scalars and/or panels they are using may not have pass...
On board intel DVI output is not dual link dvi bandwidth, it is only single link = 1920x1080... so you may get no picture with your 2560x1440 Qnix since it has only a pass through ad board.
In France - there is a lot of nudity in their art, movies, cultures, etc (things Americans find appalling and horrifying not acceptable).
In America - there is a lot of violence in the same things mentioned above (things France and Europeans find appalling and horrifying).
Your GTX 970 should handle most 1440 games fine - when you go for that resolution you are shooting for eye candy and having to use less or no AA (which cause lower FPS when you use it for 1080p resolutions)... 27" is the perfect size for 1440.

Your problem is using these connectors:
2 DP Connectors via a DPtoDVI adapter.
The signal conversion from DP to DVI is causing syncing and hand shake issues. If it worked fine before and just started happening recently = could indicate the IC in the cables are failing.
It is better to use...
Some people don't comprehend official announcements or statements in the conference. AMD never said the Fury X will be the fastest GPU. "... the fastest "Card" is going to be the Dual GPU Fury card.
I think some people got mixed up with rumors or "seeded" performance rumors as facts.
I think only the Maxwell GPUs or the silicon can support adaptive sync.
1) New gaming laptops with Maxwell GPUs are running Adpative-Sync without the G-sync module.
2) New features that solves old G-Sync issues like performance latency issue and the new Window Mode for G-sync are only for...
Disappointed?
from what I can find in my research for what ATI/AMD contributed to the GPU industry:
ATI/AMD developed and implement DDR3 and DDR5 for Graphics Card - Nvidia used it for their own GPUs later on.
ATI/AMD developed and patented VRR with eDP but only used it as a power saving...
