Dualshock 2-esque XInput controller - They're bloody nonexistant, I tells ya!

Confirming F710 is really great. Almost no beefs with it, aside from the fact that its radio connection is relatively weak and I have to make use of the included USB extension cable for its RF receiver. It also has an XInput/DirectInput toggle, and works on OSX too, if those things ever matter...

Nvidia HairWorks in COD: Ghosts

They made a bit of a noob mistake. The base model's volume already accounts for the animal having a coat of fur, and they just painted fibers on top of that surface. Hence the glam rocker look. They should have created a leaner "skin and bones" model and painted that with fur. Still looks cool...

Multiple GPUs, Multiple Displays

It is my understanding that Crossfire (don't know about SLI) still requires fullscreen mode to work, which tragically precludes the use fullscreen windowed mode.

Which to choose Radeon R9270, Radeon 270X or GTX 660

I may as well admit that I was mere seconds away from posting how you should absolutely avoid the R9 270, after I misread it as a Radeon 9200 series from the early 00s. I'm an idiot, and enjoy your new video card.

Wow, I didn't even know that was a valid screen res. Hell, back when I played Half-Life rendered in software because I didn't have a video card, the lowest I could go was 512x384.

Can you post screenshots of the OC tab in bios? The only ones I can find of that board are either low res, or weird photographs of monitors that I can't read.

Like I said I only have my P67 Ex4 to go by, but it if the Bios layouts are they same it should be below the CPU multiplier option, but above the voltage option. The overcurrent protection is probably the one that's throttling you.

Asrock motherboards, if they're anything like the P67 Extreme4 I have, have overcurrent and powerdraw protection. Their default settings are very conservative, so you need to manually increase them in order to prevent throttling.

DirectX 11.2 for Windows 8.1 and Xbox One only

One huge change is that searching is no longer segregated into Programs/Settings/Documents bins. Or so I have heard. Now granted, it was a regression to begin with so this only brings it back up to parity with W7, but it is technically a big improvement.

Saturation decrease when playing at non-native resolution

I don't know exactly where to check with Nvidia drivers, but make sure that GPU or driver scaling is enabled. Sounds like maybe your monitor's scaler is ruining the image (or possibly misinterpreting a 1080p signal as a TV signal and doing some undesirable image processing), so scaling it with...

display 10 bit - do i need one?

I was just about to ask about that, thanks. A more important question to me, though, is if will 10-bit color also help prevent banding when a wide gamut panel is put into (8 bit) sRGB emulation mode?

Who uses a smart phones but doesnt really use apps much?

Count me as one of "those people". Google Maps was critical to navigating a foreign city for the first time, but other than that it's strictly an email, web, text, phone, and music device. And half the time I just whistle the music instead of playing it. Then again, I had the same dumbphone...

Are "Gamer" boards worth it?

The one value-add that tends to be present in "gamer" and premium mainstream boards is a debug LED for reading POST codes. I usually find that worth paying extra for, though in recent years that feature has been trickling down into the regular mainstream boards too. Other than that, it mostly...
