Pagefile use when having lots of ram

and i can see some of the points made here. but some of us home users who just do one thing at a time with plenty of ram, should be fine. mine runs the same since i turned it off so far.

Does anyone think Superfetch is necessary on SSD drives?

yes, significant. boots/shutsdown way faster, applications load instant, games load up noticably faster. zero noise. but i wouldnt recommend anyone spend $800 on one though lol but when you use one you definitly realize what a bottleneck even a fast HD like the Velociraptor is, which i'm now...

pretty much what i was thinking when i made the thread but figured i'd ask to be sure. even if SF can make it faster, with the speed of SSD i dont see how its possible to notice.

today i tried a fresh install. i then installed SP1 and every single update. the audio card does same thing. rebooting it works fine. press shutdown then back on and its like there is no hardware there till i reboot. must be a driver thing but i've tried beta and previous version of it. i've...

Pagefile use when having lots of ram

according to page file monitor, my pagefile is never used, even with a game like Crysis running i still have plenty of ram leftover...is why i asked. i'm sure its a common question but with more ram being installed these days, i didnt figure any app would use up all that then 4 gigs of drive...

ok, well i narrowed some things down a bit. tried several driver versions..same thing each one. it appears to be the shutdown process itself which causes the problem on the first boot up, but not on sequential reboots. for instance, if i shutdown, then boot on. i have no audio device. its as...

is there a way to expand qucklaunch to show more icons in the system bar without having to click the arrow to display that little menu? its a picky thing, but would be far less annoying for me

but as i was saying SD makes apps appear instantanious. so theres no way to test SF. its like instant vs instant. recently read that MS is doing tests for Windows 7 to see wether or not to have SF turned off by default for those with SD drives.

Just got it, Instruction manual states that for best performance: Turn off Superfetch Do not use AHCI but IDE or Raid instead. and of course..do not defragment. lol gues you guys were wrong huh
