P5Q-E, IDE DVD drive is gone after resuming from sleep

I have Vista 64 Ultimate and a few-year-old Lite-On DVD burner running by itself on the IDE controller. When I put vista to sleep and then resume, the system hangs for a bit and the DVD is no longer listed as a drive. If I do a full reboot the drive is there. Any ideas?

p5B deluxe reporting v. high cpu temp

how much space to those things take up? will i lose the slot below the card or more? also, are they quiet, and do they cool all the memory chips and stuff like the stock cooler ?
