Question Alder Lake - Official Thread

I have not built a PC in a while (since 4th Gen intel). So it is time. The Alder Lake appears to be the right upgrade for me. PCI 5, DDR5. And I'm very interested/curious about the P / E Cores performance. Should be a fun build.

Which of these two 1155's for my 2500K?

I have the MSI P67A-GD55 Motherboard paired with an i5 2500K. Using the Hyper 212+ to cool the CPU. Running at 4.0Ghz on each core. I chose the MSI over the GB due to the Bios. MSI has the full UEFI. The board seems solid and fast and I had no problems during installation. I also have no...

MSI P67A-GD55 My OC Bios Setting

First, yes it is stable. Prime95 for 24 hours. Second, Idle temps are 28C-30C (1600MHz). Load teams never hit 60C (high 50's) (4.0 Ghz) As for speed stepping, when I adjusted the "Adjust CPU Ratio [default 33]" to any other values (say 40), the CPU would boot to 4.0Ghz and stay there...

I can see the C1E in Green Power. But no EIST in the Overclocking Screen. Can you provide a screen shot of the field you are refering to??

MSI GD-55 Bios Help

Motherboard: MSI P67A-GD55 I'm attempting to overclock (i5 2500k) with this motherboard. However when I change the CPU Ratio (Overclocking menu, "Adjust CPU Ratio"), it seems to turn off Speed Stepping. Hence my CPU runs at full speed all the time. I want to turn Speed Stepping back on...

THANKS! I would have never guessed that C1EST was the field to change. Will try this tonight. And thanks for the explanation of the system clock. That helps me understand why at default it runs 3.4G (rather than 3.3G).

I would like to try this also to help you, but as I said... Can't get my board to go back to 1.6G (at idle) when overclocking. I'm so confused with this bios. These seems to be no place to turn Speed Stepping on/off. And any attempt to overclock turns it off. Maybe I should reset the bios...

MSI P67A-GD65 - No love?

I need help understanding this Bios and overclocking. Question 1) When I first put this PC together, it ran at 16Gig and 3.3Gig (load). As expected for an i5 2500K. I then decided to try the OC Genie button. That took me to 4.3G. I think turned it off and... Now my my PC runs at 1.6G...

No, not having any problems with CPU Voltage. Mine is set to Auto and is 1.00v when idle (1600MHz). Then jumps to 1.22 at load (3400MHz).

What's the best inexpensive quiet CPU heatsink?

MSI P67A-GD65 - No love?

I updated my Bios using MSI Live Update 5 (Windows Based). Worked great and was very simple. Live Update tells you what Bios you have and what is available. Simply 1 click of the mouse and it down loads, installs and reboots.

Assembly Temp Impact

I'm having some problems getting my CPU temps were I would expect. MSI GD-55 i5 2500K Hyper 212+ While not overclocked, my idle temps are in the mid 30's. However, weather here has jumped recenly to 86 degrees, so it is hot in the house. When I run CPUID, I see the Assembly Temp at 86...
