i'll post up the speedfan results when i'm back at my machine. i think the 9/10c lower is a result of using real temp!
but yes, in comparison to the original intel HSF paste application mine looked like a choc spread sandwich made by a 5yr old!
though a lot cleaner this time i don't think...
I've been running two 250gb Seagate Barracuda 7200.11 drives in RAID 0 through a Rocket Raid 1720 PCI card.
I just noticed that there is a tiny jumper on each drive connecting an area labelled 'limit to 1.5gb/s operation'
naturally i took them off expecting a double speed increase (daft)...
well, i thought if I used one that was in date it might not go through the ATM machine too well!
cleared all the paste from both the HSF + IHS - there was a lot of excess that had squeezed out over the socket latch + around the IHS. I then cleaned both surfaces with nail polish remover...
thats kinda what i'm thinking now... i used a credit card (expired) to spread paste over the entire IHS
after looking at the arctic silver website i see that only a line of paste running down the middle of both cores (core 2 duo) is what is needed
i'm guessing i applied so much that the...
kinda as the title and summary suggests. I've just installed a fresh copy of xp after doing an upgrade. I downloaded speedfan to see what the temperature reading were on idle
my E7200 cores are at 39/41c
now, i applied thermal paste to the cpu (like arctic silver 5 but a diff brand name)...
thats interesting to know that a 2gb + 1gb module work, though would 3gb in single channel mode be better than 2 in dual channel?
obviously having more ram in applications would be advantageous but would the speed hit be a worthwhile trade off?
cheers 007, I might look into it, though i'm always a bit wary of beta versions of anything...
I was under the impression the pctreiber site made their own bios's but it seems to be a beta bios from asrock themselves?
I presume bios's always default to english!?
cleverly, (well i though it was anyway) i got the engineer from the place i bought the bits from to try every combination of ram they had in the shop to see what worked....
this is on a 4coredual sata2 R2.0 with bios version 2.0
trying to run two of these...
Can anyone overclocking this board give me any memory advice?
I've ordered:
GEIL 2GB DDR2 667 CL3.0 DUAL CHANNEL 3-4-4-8
but it's out of stock even with suppliers, then the guy said we've got some CAS 5 if you want it. Initially i thought i'd wait until the Geil is back in stock, but if...
I'd like to know this also. I assume that if you're running an AGP card then you can leave the empty PCIE slot to go to whatever frequency you like if they are independant?!
I'm running a RAID 0 array via a PCI card, and an HD 3850 on AGP so need to make absolutely sure that the PCI/AGP freq...
yeah, i should have read on page 80 where someone had noted both that the E7200 works and is supported...
my guess is that i should be able to get to an FSB of something around the 250 - 290 mark by running the RAM at 1:1, possibly backing the timings down from 3-4-4-8 to something like...
I've been reading through this thread for awhile now, and thought I had better make an account...
basically I'm a bit concerned about the compatibility of the E7200
I've just bought, and am waiting for in the post:
ASROCK 4COREDUAL-SATA2 R2.0
GEIL 2GB DDR2 667 CL3.0 DUAL CHANNEL...
