Are Intel getting Worried? - 9900KS

Running cool and quiet ~4,5Ghz Ice Lake and still much more powerfull will be so satisfactory against this power hungry, overheating CPU with ancient architecture. I'm already feeling sorry for the 9900KS owners. They will be a new "Kaby Lake" poor guys, if you know what I mean. Of course it is...

Discussion Intel current and future Lakes & Rapids thread

I bet Rocket Lake is 14nm Skylake core as well. There is no reason to think otherwise. Simple math. Anything newer was developed for 10nm and Intel is reluctant to port it for the past several years. Interesting point is what clocks and TDP will have Rocket or even Comet Lake 8/10 core CPUs.

Nvidia ,Rtx2080ti,2080,2070, information thread. Reviews and prices September 14.

You can count on the fact that RTX 2070 wont reach GTX1080Ti. No way. I'm expecting around 10% above GTX 1080Ti, but for RTX 2080.

There is something 100% not right with this leak... along with TimeSpy there is also Firestrike Ultra score on the same card from the same guy, but this score is way below GTX 1080, around 60% lower than average GTX 1080, which is absurd...

Massive security hole in CPU's incoming?Official Meltdown/Spectre Discussion Thread

What hit in the games ? AFAICS: Ashes of the Singularity - positive impact AC: Origins - positive impact Battlefield 1 - positive impact but still within margin of error

Massive security hole in CPU's incoming?Official Meltdown/Spectre Discussion Thread

But still I think (or hope) there should not be a significant consumer impact if any. Looks like a huge problem for datacenters at first place.

Massive security hole in CPU's incoming?Official Meltdown/Spectre Discussion Thread

True, Kaby and Coffee are basically newer revisions of Skylake core. Anyway Coffee retail chips are being produced since mid summer, so I doubt are not affected. And even if not then I dont understand the post above with benchmarks where is clearly performance hit on the Coffee Lake chips.

    Intel "Coffee Lake" Builders Thread

It is not just the one bios setting. If you switch this settings you not only get all cores@4.7 but also massive overvolt which is in many cases completely unnecessary. This stupid setting needs to be disabled unless you set voltages manually.

Then give this "another forum" a credit :) Author also commented what he thinks about the numbers and what will do, so I guess there is no problem to use google translator ? ;)

    Intel Skylake / Kaby Lake

Launching in Q1 or H1 '18 would do the job better I think, at least from psychological point of view. IMHO the best launch window for 6 core was in January, ~16 months after Skylake. But OK, it is as it is. Well, the performance is there, but not the value. Even 6 years old Sandy Bridge still...

    Intel Skylake / Kaby Lake

Well, lets say in 2012 we had a pretty good idea what we can expect in 2015 - 14nm Skylake - a new architecture on an improved process. Yes, it could have failed, but it was working for quite some time and Intel was sending really strong messages to the audience on each conference how is tick...

    Intel Skylake / Kaby Lake

What a mess. Intel future shifted from perfectly aligned tick/tock roadmaps a few years back into unpredictable confusing mess with different overlapping architectures/chipsets/nodes/etc.

Yes, in tick-tock era with two generations of the "same architecture"... but tick-tock is dead now, so who knows how it will affect chipsets compatibility in the future...
