Overclocking the Venice 3200+..

Hard disk not accepting Windows XP

Might not be related, but I had the same problem with a thinkpad laptop that keeps halting on memtest even though there is no error. Turns out one of the ram chip is faulty.

Dual PSU?

Yes you can, try searching the forum for dual psu, last year I have seen some post about shorting two of the pins in the 20 pin connector to the motherboard. This is done to turn the other PSU on. Try google otherwise, but it's definitely possible

BSODs

I am seeing a pattern here, all these crashes is associated with games, therefore the culprit has to lie somewhere in the videocard. But if you are certain that the videocard is fine (and that you have tried another one), try another power supply. It could be that the power supply is crapping...

Pentium - M or A64

CD burner ripping really slowly?

When you said Lite on, I remembered something from a few years ago... People were complaining about the noise that 52x cd/burner produces, so they limit it to a certain speed. I think of you press and hold the eject button for a few seconds as your computer boots up it will go to max speed...

9800 xt, GeForce 6800 gt, x800 Pro

6800gt all the way, 16 pipes with the price of 12 (x800 pro), you can overclock it easy to ultra which is $100 more expensive. Heck, the Gainward Golden sample even pre overclock it for you, with warranty! However, I will stick with 9800xt. As I usually upgrade every 2 generation. You'll see...

Is there a way to backup large hard drives, easy n cheap?

Get two 200Gb drives, use ghost to back up the drive and do a high compression on the image. You can probably shrink a full 150 gig drive to 50 gig depending on the type of files inside. Unless you have 150 gig of zip files you'll be fine. All three drives will probably fit into one. 200 gig...

I haven't seen the 6600gt or x700 around with AGP. That is the problem, and I don;t expect it to sell the same price as a 9800 pro. The shops are selling 9800 pro lower than retail to clear out their stocks. I wish there's a benchmark using a middle end machine just to show whether upgrading...

Win XP doesn't recognize 2nd hard drive (BIOS does)
