Fax modem -- can they intercept faxes without screwing up incoming calls?

I was wondering if it's possible to get a fax modem or software that can catch incoming calls, screen them to see if they're a fax, and if they're not, forward the call to our phones? It seems like a long shot, but the world of technology never seems to amaze me. And, no, I don't want to pay...

Thanks for the replies. I guess I should have embellished a little more. This is not a file server as most people know it. We have a Dell file server that has several backups run daily for our critical data and everything there is run off of 4 73 gig scsi drives. This machine is for data...

How many PCI IDE controllers can a system handle?

We're looking at building a server. We want to maximize storage space while spending the least amount of money possible (doesn't everyone?) so we naturally decided to go with IDE drives. We are planning on using a Tyan dual Athlon MP MB, either the Tiger MPX (S2466) or the Thunder K7X (S2468)...

how much RAM can Redhat 7.3 support?

I'm looking at buying a new server and I want it to have 4 GB of RAM. I've been searching on Google's and Redhat's site and even the forum, but I can't find anywhere that tells me how much RAM RH7.3 supports. I read somewhere that Kernel 2.4 will support up to 64 GB, but I want to know...

Good/Fast way to format the hard drives on 30 computers??

Right, and scanning for bad sectors is always a long process. Is there anyway to actually speed up the process of scanning for bad sectors or will this be a slow process no matter what? I'm not sure yet if this will actually be required, but in case it is I would like to know of any...

thanks... will this format the drive well enough so that when the new OS is installed there won't be any noticable artifacts from the previous installation??

I have to format/wipe the drives of 30 different computers this Wednesday and I want a fast efficient way of doing it. Any ideas?? The 30 computers are all pcs of the same or very similar make and model, if that makes any difference at all. I really don't want to have to boot to a floppy or...

Ghost 2002 to CDR always recieve Error 12020

I always receive this error. I've tried the suggestions made on the Symantec support site. I've tried all compression ratios(none, fast, high), I've made sure the CD burner is on a seperate IDE channel, and I'm pretty sure the drive (NEC CD burner) is supported. It always starts recording...
