core 2 quad in Dell e6400 Laptop?

According to my research on google there hasn't been much talk or success with dropping a core 2 quad or extreme in an dell e6400. I was wondering if anyone here on this forum had successfully done it? Apparently the fastest cpu I can use is a core 2 duo t9800.

Will a Pentium 4 Northwood suffice for HTPC?

i have a dell e6400 laptop with Core2Duo 2.26 4gb 250 5400rpm, it has some crap integrated graphics. it handles 720p mkv just fine and most lower bitrate 1080p mkvs. larger 1080p mkvs show stutter/framerate issues. it plays local media on hd, on 16gb flash, and streamed media across my network...

reliable bdr?

Just wondering what everyone is using for blank bdr these days? Im looking for archival grade media, 25gb at least 4x. I have a LG 12x burner. Thanks.

up and running again, multiplier @ 40x in bios, speedstep enabled. running ibt, monitoring with core temp and cpuid hardware monitor. will reply with temps, pass/fail.

thanks for the info regarding vid cards. I've got windows back up and running on my machine with drivers installed. i was just running windows update b4 i went to work yesterday. i should be back to work on it tomorrow morning. regarding the ssd its been fine other then the no bootable...

i read a ssd guide for noobs prior to building this rig. it listed the importance of ahci mode and making sure trim support is on. cytoSiN, u think i should pick up a pair of gtx 460's for $200, or hold out for a new radeon with pci 3.0?

yup its in ahci mode. i just wasnt sure if i needed it on for marvell sata ports too. i have a lg 12 bdrw hooked up to one of the them.

yea, i tried the suggestions. i appreciate all the help. when windows attempted to load "no bootable partition was found" came up every time. i first o/c about 2 weeks ago. ive only had the build up and running for 3 weeks. i guess i just took the easy way out and reformatted it real quick...
