Here's the deal,
You may be a member of the Settlement Group if you purchased prerecorded Music Products (compact discs, cassettes or vinyl albums) from a retail store during the period of January 1, 1995 through December 22, 2000 and you are a resident of the US.

The DMCA is good and not the politician's selling off their constituents to line their pockets, copyright is supreme and not a social contract, companies' right to make money should prevail over individual rights and Anandtech, Fat wallet et al should spend their days in court and run out of...
Back in stock, same good price.
I was pleasantly surprised to find out that it can be easily hacked to capture PAL too (details at the forums at Pinnacle)
By the way, this week the Pinnacle PCTV is also on sale however the PCTV depends on your CPU for the compression, big difference. The AIW's...
I had an ATI AIW (the original) and told myself I wouldn't get another ATI AIW. The drivers were simply awful.
An external box gives you a choice of video card (e.g., Nvidia).
AIWs depend significantly on the CPU for MPEG compression and will limit your capture options depending on your machine...
I just noticed in the shelves of my local CompUSA that the Pinnacle Bungee was at $99.99 (shelf price, no rebates, it's not even in the weekly ad), down from $199.99 MSRP (lowest on pricewatch and pricegrabber is over $150)
This is an external (USB) video recorder that will do MPEG @DVD/SVCD/VCD...

I've had similar problems with corrupt partition tables (with wrong Cyl/Hd/Sect settings stored). I usually solve it using Linux fdisk (by the way: you don't need to install Linux for this, you just need a Linux installation floppy)
Enjoy,

You can do this in the registry but it is easier to download the TweakUI utility from Microsoft and it has a dialog box for changing the locations of all the system folders (Program Files, My Documents, etc). Note that some programs hardcode "C:\Program Files" and ignore the settings in the...
Hello Anandtech people,
I just built a RAID system very cheaply but I'd like to know how good it really is.
This raid was built using 3 Maxtor 80GB 5400rpm external firewire hard disks (approx $110 each, thanks to the people in the Hot Deals Forum), using Windows 2000 software RAID in...
For Dungeons & Dragons fans (or nostalgics):
Today at Compusa B&M (Hauppauge, Long Island) I noticed a pile of AD&D 3rd Edition Player's Handbook. It carried a Sticker "Free with purchase of Pool of Radiance while supplies last". I went to check out how much was Pool of Radiance and the...
