LGA775 mobo died, time to upgrade?

thanks for the response! over at hardforums we are also trying to solve this problem, let me tell you where we are at. well my old psu is only a 20pin and not compatible with my c2d, so I tried it, but only with my mobo. nothing was attached, no beeps. As I mentioned in my first post...

thanks for the response mpilch! i have checked the psu voltmeter readings against my other computers psu and they are nearly identical. unfortunatly i am not a electrician and don't know how to exactly read the data on my analog voltmeter. ill tear out the psu from my other rig and try it...

Thanks for your responses and I have already started the RMA process. It really is no big hoot to me, I just want to find out what is wrong with my computer. The first 8800gts was bad, i know that. one of the dvi outputs produced screen corruption that in no way effected my computer...

my friends computer is has same mobo and HDD as mine, but he is still using the 7950gt. according the powersupply, the PCI-E1 connection is by itself and provides 18amps.

i spoke with a rep @ evga and he told me 18a on the 12v rail powering a single 8800gts is fine. I tried the card in my friends computer (with my hdd and video card swapped over) today and it came up with the same problems. any other ideas?
