I'd think that if AMD was sitting on the patent for a significant amount of time before the development of DXR, Inline Ray Tracing would have been a part of DXR 1.0 instead of joining over a year later as a part of DXR 1.1.

I don't know if RTRT was always the plan for the new consoles. The patent for AMD's RT hardware solution was filed in December 2017, that's just months before DXR was launched and well after Turing was designed. Honestly, a the relatively late addition of RTRT hardware as a feature requirement...

Are you sure? I could be mistaken but I lurk Beyond3D and RealWorldTech forums a lot and I've seen "tape outs" explained numerous times, tape out leaks are commonly discussed and the discussions always to refer to tape outs and getting silicon back as very separate things.

Has Kopite clarified that as their meaning? I mean those are two very different things. I know of other "tape out" leaks that were clearly leaks of the actual tape out, the original Ampere/GA100 tape out leak for instance. That seems so fast though, I've always heard it's like six months from...

The "Ampere" A100 Whitepaper: https://www.nvidia.com/content/dam/en-zz/Solutions/Data-Center/nvidia-ampere-architecture-whitepaper.pdf That's a rather dramatic improvement in TC performance, it will be interesting to see what they end up looking like in the consumer GPUs down the line.

The DLSS 2.0 presentation from GTC 2020. https://developer.nvidia.com/gtc/2020/video/s22698 There are some examples in there of how DLSS can at times produce a closer to "ground truth" image quality than even native resolution.

Am I missing something? In that presentation, the MLSS/DLSS model is specifically credited to Nvidia. It seems very much like Nvidia's baby to me.

Reproducing it confirms it's an actual issue, which it clearly is or at least was back then. Since we've seen false narratives about BFV's RTX implementation pushed to drum up outrage before, you don't think maybe we should be prudent and get solid confirmation about these things before going...
