Thank you :) But if the ring bus works so magnificiently, then how come there's no 32-core Intel server processor? With KNL Intel already pushed the TDP envelope out to 245 Watts. Surely they could fit 32 cores in that TDP envelope, so what's stopping them? Maybe, just maybe there would be too...

I still can't see a huge problem there. AFAIK i7-6800K is 1-core Turbo: 36x, all-core Turbo: 35x, base: 34x. Small steps there too. And due to obvious TDP constraints (95W vs. 140W) Summit Ridge may not be able to compete with the "biggest fishes" (6900K and 6950X) anyway. Truth be told, it...

2.8/3.2 GHz are for the 4c/65W part. I too expect those clocks to go considerably higher when TDP is loosened up to 95W, _and_ AMD gets to another spin on the stepping (A1). The big question is how better A1 would be, and when can we get to that stepping.

Maybe I just cannot be any more specific than that, because ... you know :) I think you can figure out the reason. Anyway, I'm not saying AMD's solution is better. All I'm saying is that Intel's current (and supposedly their best) solution is simply not suitable to scale up to 32 cores...

Yes, it's a ring. It looks like a ring and it works like a ring. You can call it whatever you want though, it's your choice. It's suboptimal because it's got too many hops. It works best with slightly less cores, 24 cores are stretching the concept. I'm not saying AMD's solution is better...

You don't have to trust me. I'm in the PC hw/sw business for over 20 years, and I have some degree of credibility in certain circles. Most likely I will also receive a Summit Ridge ES CPU months before review sites like Anandtech, but that's a whole different issue :)

One thing I can tell you for sure: what he said is not fake, at all. Wishful thinking would have been a 4c/8t Summit Ridge already running at over 4 GHz clocks in a flawless AM4 motherboard and executing a bunch of benchmark software with zero issues.
