Come to find out the bios chip is soldered on the Promise card. So no go anyways...
Maybe I can find someone with a couple cheapo Socket 7 boards with the same bios chip.
Thanks for the info. I did do some looking around for a bios chip replacement but didn't find anything for a board this old. I have other Socket 7 boards with compatible chips but I want to keep them all in working order.
I've been going through my retro stuff and tinkering with it all and was...
I have an Asus TXP4-X motherboard that needs a bios chip. I have a Promise Ultra66 PCI IDE card that has a bios chip that looks to be the right width and pin out and such.
So, can I take the bios chip out of that Promise controller and hot flash it and put it in that Asus motherboard? Thanks...
Intel says 95w TDP because they use the better case scenario. They base their TDP on the base clock only. So when it comes to the 9900k, they only give you the numbers based on a frequency of 3.6 ghz and not on the 4.7ghz-5ghz turbo clocks.
It's been known for quite awhile even before 2nd gen CFL that it would take 10nm++ to overtake 1st gen Coffee Lake transistor performance. Absolutely nothing new except Intel making their 10nm team do even better to overtake the latest 14nm process. Which it seems, their 10nm in any form, will...
A 6/8 core CPU would obviously be more future resistant than a 4 core or less CPU. If you're wanting a good bang for the buck, look for something like a first gen Ryzen (R5 1600/R7 1700, etc. I have seen good 2nd Gen deals as well though. It's about the right timing). Which setup is also...
It is a quick CPU and faster than the 4790k in certain things (It could usually OC > 4.0 ghz or so), I would not buy it. It is like $675 @ Amazon (It was actually around $365 when released, so obvious gouging). A very bad bang for the buck.
Rewview here if your interested...
Your current CPU should push your new GPU just fine for the most part. I would at least run the GPU with your current setup and see how happy you are. Applying a 4.3ghz/4.4ghz OC to your CPU and possibly adding more ram should do well.
Of course committing adultery in general is a personal/family issue but he made it others business by his own self. He slept with his company's employee, the company he must answer to and thus made it beyond his personal life.
Edit: I still honestly believe he was fired for his CEO performance...
