I agree...Uninstall all your USB root hubs in device manager (you'll need a PS2 mouse), and reboot. Windows will automatically reinstall them on startup.
I did an experiment a couple of years ago, and the Artic silver paste dropped my temps 3-4 degrees versus the OEM gunk. But, if your not overclocking, save the dough$
For me: Higher memory speed @2T > Lower latencies @1T.
In Super pi 1M my best time was 12.86s (memory speed=1152 5-5-5-15 2T). When I ran it at (memory speed=800 4-4-4-12 1T) I could not break 13s.
It may not be in your list but, I suggest the Evga NF680i. Also, why would you want on board audio, when you can get a X-Fi card for less than $50. At this point in time, on board audio sucks, my opinion.
n7: I love my freezone, it allowed me to take my chip close to 4Ghz. Of course, I also switched my mobo to Evga NF680i, and new memory. But, it will cool the s**** out of your chip, as long as you release the extra heat that the tecs are creating inside your case.
Funny. Unfortunately, Nice guys finish last. The on-die memory controller was the killer at one time, but human ingenuity always finds a better, quicker way to the top.
My Superpi_mod score is now 13.109s
I removed the thermal goop that came with the Freezone block, and replaced it with AS5. My temps dropped 4-5 degrees celcius, and allowed me to OC further. :D
13.50s
I actually had 13.46s earlier but I didn't take a screenshot. Oh well, what's .04s?;)
I've only had a couple of days of tweaking with this new build, I hope to do better soon.
