Yeah i was disappointed i wasn't able to get the ASUS P4T533-C up and running but now that i have the GA-8IHXP up I am loving life! So far my only complaint is the manual (OK in general terms but lacks some important info - like how to properly install ATA133). When i get back home from work...
I just got this board a few hours ago and will be installing this evening. One thing i noticed in the manual in reference to AGP cards is to check the voltage. Default on some of the older cards is 2.2v. This board will only work with 1.5v.
Just one more thing to check before you toss it :)...
Thanks for the replies...
I am using the Heatsink and Fan that came with the chip (p4 2.53). I also didn't see any instructions for nor any coolant paste (like i normally put on an AMD)... this chip has like a silver plate on it so the core isn't exposed. Maybe i'm doing something wrong...
I have the same problem!
I have:
P4T533-C
512 MB Kingston 16bit PC1066
P4 2.53Ghz
Geforce 4 ti4600
Only thing i know is not supported is my 60GB Matrox HD ATA133... board supports up to ATA100, but don't think that would prevent it from posting.
If anyone has any idea on why this is...
Thanks! Just what i needed to hear. I have read from others that state that buying RAM from other sources is the way to go. I have built many desktop systems but have never opened up a laptop. Is upgrading RAM or other components hard for one to do his/her self?
Headed over to gateway again =)
Very valid points. Thanks for the info. This will be the first laptop i buy so any advice is more than welcomed and appriciated.
Thanks!
Good points. But yes my main reason for wanting a laptop is to be able to move it around between work and home as well as for travel (do some web application development on the side that sometimes requires me to travel). My worry is that this system seems too good to be true. Reminds me of when...
I an buying a laptop to in escence replace my desktop. I want a machine that has the power and capabilities for work and play. I have looked for what i want on IBM, Compaq, DELL, and Gateway websites but they all hit the 3K+ mark. Decided to see what pricewatch would show and i find a system...
i use both ZA and ZeroKnowledge Freedom..
Freemdom's firewal is a bit lacking but compliments well with ZA.. and best of all, you get annoniminity on the web with freedom. Check them out. Zero Knowledge
I have been using AVP for a long time but the other day a friend was infected with the melissa virus and AVP couldn't clean it. We installed McAffee and it took it right out..
So, what do you use and consider to be the best?
Thankd DaddyG.. have NOT, i repeat, HAVE NOT used the dremmel on the CPU.. lol, i may be a newby, but even i have better sense. I read the articles where they use a dremmel to work in the diamond tip.. but now that you got me on the FID pin track, i'm researching that bit. Thanks for all the...
finally! someone gives me an alternative! i have been searching and have found nothing on the FID3 pin.. i'll keep searching though.. that sounds like a better alternative..
