Calculating height/width of 16:9 and 16:10 displays from diagnal...

The dimensions given for displays is for the entire thing and not the screen... I'd like to know the height and width of just the screens on those displays. The reason for this is that I'd like to know if a 32" 16:9 LCD HDTV would be higher than a 16:10 30" LCD monitor... I suppose I can...

What do you think of EAX?

I hate choosing between EAX and Dolby Headphone. There's not a single card that supports the latest EAX and has DH. =\

What do you think of EAX?

Considering so many sound cards don't support the latest EAX, including high-end ones like the Asus Xonar, I wonder how many here would only buy a sound card with full EAX support and how many don't care.

"Lock frame rate to 30 fps" should be an available option in every PC game.

It's more like enjoying a smooth ride in the back seat reading a book and then having to readjust every time the speed abruptly changes, going faster then slower and vice versa. :P And yeah vsync is an option, but it's not ideal.

[Retired] The LCD Thread

I'm wondering about something, when people refer to 1:1 pixel mapping do they mean literally 1:1 or just keep the aspect ratio? A lot of times people are asking this for consoles. On something like a 1920x1200 monitor, I'm guessing 720p, which is the resolution used by most 360/PS3 games...

Why don't some games have this option!? It's annoying for a game to be around 60fps at one part and 35 at another. If I can't have a constant ~60 then give me a constant 30 please.

Because I want to use Dolby Headphone. I'll try that CMSS feature but I doubt it'll be in the same league as the dolby one. From that quote it looks like it remixes stereo sound into surround, which is not what Dolby Headphone does. DH takes an already surround signal and decodes it for...

OK wait, my sound card only has an optical out. Everything else is the regular 3.5mm jacks and whatever. Now a lot of people have surround setups for their PCs, and play games, this sound card is a 7.1 'extremegamer' one... I'm assuming that it compresses up to 7.1 into that optical out and...

OK, so what exactly do all those 5.1/7.1 cards and speaker sets all over newegg do? Just play surround for movies? Hell even my on-board sound oes 7.1 I think. So it doesn't actually do that for games? What's going on. I hate this stuff. :( You know what, I'm just going to forget about...

Both, but games are the priority. OK so there are Creative cards that have Dolby Digital and DTS hardware encoding as part of their specs, usually they're the most expensive ones. You'll telling me that all Creative cards however output Dolby Digital/DTS? So you can use a receiver connected...
