Question If you have bought a CPU in the last 3 years or so (since Ryzen came out) What was it ?

I went with the 8700K around the time they announced the 9th gen would be compatible with Z370. Then swapped to a 9700K when Microcenter had a sale. Photoshop is my main program and at the time Intel's frequency advantage won out. If I were building today it would be hard to ignore the 3900X.

Rather rude... As stated, 'best' is not a single monitor, but rather the best one for a purpose. If you're a pro video editor / content creator / photographer, etc., the 'best' monitor is likely going to be a $2K+ Eizo, NEC, Asus Pro Art, HP Dreamcolor, etc. for the color accuracy. But that...

Question Space fluctuation on OS SSD?

Do you use MS OneDrive? I've found it tends to make daily backups (sometimes multiple times per day) that can quickly eat up space. Each backup folder can be 100s of MB depending on what you have. Check this folder under your username:

Question What is the CPU vendor of your primary rigs?

I'm going to build my son a new gaming desktop, and one of the parts I have is a 512GB 850 Pro that came out of a previous system. It has sat on a shelf for about 12 months. I'm familiar with the fact that SSDs lose data over time when not used, but assuming this drive will be fully formatted...

Question 9700K after overlock - same benchmark score

@coercitiv The export loads all cores up, at least according to task manager. It's one of the few operations in Photoshop that actually uses multi-cores decently. Not sure if there's a point it caps out, but so far it's seen good use on 6/8 core chips. I do wonder if it uses AVX...

I was watching in RealTemp and they seemed to hover right around 4.6 I believe at stock. They were definitely clocking higher in RealTeamp after the OC.

Question How long should a HDD last?

Just my opinion of course, but in a typical home PC if the hard drive makes it past the first year then it will likely last a looooong time. Sure, they can fail at any time but so can other components. Follow rule number one with computers: backup, backup, backup!

What is the largest capacity SSD in your primary Home PC?
