Any software for scheduling power on and shutdown?

Hello, My friend has a small business which runs a single database server (OS is Windows Server 2003 Std). Usually the server is left on running 24x7, but he would would like to configure it to shutdown during the weekends since no one ever uses it then. Is there any software available that...

Need a cheap, reliable web server for permanent online backup.

Backup newbie here....I hate to hijack this thread, but which is generally better and easier to use for backup purposes, to have an external RAID 1 setup (like running in a NAS server) or hooking up external drives directly to a computer and just cloning your data onto each drive as necessary ???

Cable Modems

What download/upload speeds to you have with your current cable service? I have the Mot SB5120 and it's a DOCSIS 2 modem..so it should handle about 38 Mbit down / 27 Mbit up, which is way higher than most cable companies. DOCSIS 3 modems are out...I think, but I doubt your modem is causing the...

slow network in windows xp

Ok before posting this thread, I searched the forums for similar issues but didn't come across the same problem... anyway I've been really annoyed by an issue where network browsing is very slow in windows xp...sometimes impossible.. you know...basically going through computers and folders...

I guess I wasn't so clear initially, but your right...it looks as though this particular computer is infected with a worm that is sending out the phony DNS requests. I haven't got the slightest clue what's initiating these requests though..

Hello, I have a firewall setup at home (runs m0n0wall v1.235) and I notice that one of the computers behind the firewall receives random DNS queries every 5 seconds for non-existent domain names .... like etihxdxh.com or dxiitidd.com (ususally 8 letters long). I can capture these packets...
