I had tried another video card and was looking up the bios reset switch when I landed on HP's web site. I checked the warranty status on HP web site. It had two weeks left! They sent a tech to replace the system board and it is working again. (now I have two machines..., but using the new one)

it took me three years of monthly (random) BSOD and several OS reloads, and drive replacements to realize I had a bad SATA port on my board. I even switch SATA cables but kept using the same set of ports. Now it is fine. I came VERY close to scrapping the system.
