Just curious, what caused you to upgrade from SB to IB? I can't think of too many use cases that would justify upgrading on every tick-tock cycle Intel releases.

Only problem with that is you have a short upgrade path with IB-E. Except in corner cases, for desktop use you would most likely be better served (and save a lot of money/power) with Haswell which is not that far off now. Q6600 was legendary price/performance I agree, I had a Q6700 up until IB...

Yep, agree on that. Glad I went IB on release day. People were trying to convince me to get a 3820 since IB-E "would be out soon" and provide an upgrade path. Right.

Restrict bandwidth on a wireless VLAN - possible with DD-WRT? Linksys 310N

How to add eSATA to a motherboard?

Bracket is the cheaper way to go, but you can also buy a PCI-e eSATA card (1 or 2 ports) for about $25 if you look around. Would require installing another set of SATA drivers, but will be guaranteed to support hot swap and port multiplication (multiple drives in one eSATA enclosure/cable).

Hey guys, I recently setup a wireless VLAN for guests at our place using DD-WRT v24 preSP2 (Build13064) on a Linksys 310N gigabit/wifi-N router. I have the VLAN setup to be fully segregated on it's own subnet with no access to my LAN, but provide internet access, and it is working well...

[VR-Zone] Intel Core i7 3770K@4.6GHz vs AMD FX-8150@4.6GHz

Just wanted to highlight this as no one addressed it. Mind blowing. Who are the FX chips meant for? They seem to be marketed to gamers/"extreme" home users. This is a sad state of affairs.

AMD Trinity 17W's CPU and GPU performance tested (vs Ivy Bridge)

is 25W feasible in an ultrabook chasis? This Sleekbook isn't an UB anyway though, 4.75lbs and thicker, so why not use a 25W TDP APU, must be cost concerns I guess. Good value at $600 I guess.

IDC: Only 500K Ultrabooks Sold So Far
