Assuming this is a server/HPC chip, then yes, moar coars is better. I expect desktop Zen to have quite a few skews with notably fewer cores. Probably higher clocked and smaller dies as expected from both Intel and AMD.

Not really sure what the power consumption of AMD's chips has to do with the wording of the thread, but we all know the 8350 isn't energy star certified at this point. Those graphs don't really mean much to the average user and especially not to the Intel chip comparison out of context...

Fury Nano, biggest bang in smallest package.. FPS/inch baby!

I can't see the nano being the same speeds as a 290X considering the R9 390 fills that gap already. A nice middle ground between the 390X/980 and R9 Fury seems like the place to be. Judging by the expected clockspeed of ~800Mhz and the fact that the Fury cards don't seem to be shader limited...

You won't even be close to your max wattage! You could probably run upwards of a R9 370 or gtx 960. Not that I would recommend it without knowing more specifics about your system.

what brand of used 7950 should I buy?

Those Canadian prices never fail to surprise me! Judging by those prices, another 7950 might be a good stopgap if you want to upgrade pretty soon, but I don't think I would count on having it past the next gpu cycle. Especially with the terrible crossfire support you may get in games. Upgrade...

AMD R9 Fury X reviews!

While impressive, the Fury X is not quite good enough for me to just run out and buy. It does compete with the 980ti in most cases, which I can't complain about, but a small price cut would be nice. Hopefully DX12 and drivers give the Fury X a good kick up the ladder. Otherwise I'll be waiting...

Considering the 390X is priced against a 980 which it matches very well, I would say AMD is competitive. Comparing a 390X to a 980ti or Titan X is ludicrous as they aren't priced even remotely close to each other. True you could buy a 290X and OC, but I don't think that their MSRPs are so out of...
