My RX 480 is happy with 1030 mV max. Anything below that and it starts slowing down in games. Helps quite nicely with temperatures. On stock it goes all the way to 43'C while undervolting brings it down to 39'C. Which means less heat in the loop. Yeah, I am one of those idiots.
In the described use case, hardly anything. Yes, the whole system will be a little snappier, but nothing like going from HDD to SSD. You might have more effect from a little more RAM.
On a slight tangent... I just put together a system where I use a very sad 2.5" 5400 rpm disk as a system drive...
Last Friday my C: moved from a Samsung 840 EVO 128 to a Samsung 960 EVO M.2 250. Definitely not worth it. Even worse on a motherboard with only PCIe 2.0 which means the top read speed is at 1650 Mb/s with write speeds a little behind.
Pure file operations are much faster, but it is not an...
S.T.A.L.K.E.R - never played Clear Sky before now. I am up to the church on the swamp sweep. Graphics on DX 10.1 everything (also in advanced settings) on max at 1680 x 1050. No stutters so far. The sun effects are pretty - too pretty for the Zone :)
It seems to be using only one core which...
If the memory test has been run for a couple of hours we can leave the RAM alone for now. With heat issues from overclocking taken care of we are looking at the PSU, the motherboard or software.
My bets would be on the PSU or the motherboard.
Since “waiting a few minutes before doing the...

Qx6600 G0 @ 3.20 Ghz. 8x400. 63'C stable overnight. Intel stock cooling on an ASUS Maximus Extreme.
Sorry about the low number - only got the computer together two days ago and was just fooling around on the second startup :)
PCTC2 is right. Writing this on a two-day old computer featuring the Maximus I can add a few elaborations.
-It does not need water-cooling, but it is ready for it.
-The extra little fan is intended to help with cooling if the CPU is water-cooled. Poking around, ASUS has a point - the copper...
Running for two days now.
Seems slightly faster overall. Some file operations (virus scan, backup) definitly close to 'insert any other OS here', while file & folder tasks in Explorer are just as slow - well, I am writing that up to old hardware - moving to new and shiny stuff next week.
And...
Nice rig, but that Sempron is sticking out like a sore thumb. Good CPU for most things, but BF is peculiar.
And if you have to run the sound in software, better get a new sound card - that really makes a difference.
Leave the memory for now - you have plenty and adding more or consolidating...
