Yes, that is how BB Canada is. I got my 5090 from them and it showed as back order when I bought it. I think they put up stock as soon as it’s allocated to them and/or en route from their distributor. As it took over a week until it actually shipped.
The 4090 was a huge upgrade, one of their best generational increases ever. If they’d have used 3nm for Blackwell, it would have been pretty good as well I’d reckon. They are competing against themselves and milking us gamers like cows.
And they’re apparently trying to cook us over literal...
The AIBs are the scalpers now. I didn’t want an FE, I don’t trust the high memory temps in tandem with a new type of GDDR on the cards. Just had to bite the bullet as I had already sold my 4090 and needed a card.
I feel a sucker though. Nvidia keeps raising prices and I keep buying. Where is...
Just got lucky and got an order in for an AIB on Best Buy here. These cards are robbery. The markup over MSRP is ridiculous. The card I got was $600 more than MSRP.
I think it's worse than paper really. I'd say it's almost a vapour-launch like he infers in this video. 4090 I had to try to get one, but not too hard, just had to be ready when some came available on Newegg. I don't think Newegg had any stock of 5090s at all so far. If so, just a very, very...
How is this such a paper launch if they ramped down 40 series, and it’s on the samr node? All the major PC stores in Canada got absolutely nothing. No stock at all. The one exception was Best Buy with however many FE cards they had that sold out immediately.
By far the worst nvidia has done in...
Pathetic. 5080 is a disaster. They know they can get it away with it though, as it’s still the third best card, and the second best is only available in the used market for more $$.
Has anyone found any 5090 benchmarks showing scaling with different CPUs? Everything I can find is only using the 9800X3D. I'm guessing I wouldn't need more than my 7800X3D for 4K, but would like some confirmation.
The Asus Astral 5090 is $2800US. $800 markup is insane. Asus is scalping.
I’ll be trying for an FE, if that fails, Gigabyte Gaming or MSI Trio. They’ll all perform the same anyways.
With the power consumption we’ve seen, I’m guessing overlocking is basically out of the question. You’ll be exceeding the connector and causing some exciting times. Probably will hear of some burnt out cables/connectors from overlocking.
Maybe it will take nicely to undervolting like the 4090 does.
Decent core thermals, the memory runs really hot though. AIB is going to be better thermally than nvidia’s solution. Impressive for a significantly smaller cooler though. The fps improvement is ho hum.
