where can I donate old gear?

I have: Dell Poweredge 1800 Tower (2x xeon, 4GB RAM) 2x 1U black box servers - i think they have one proc and 2GB RAM A couple Antec PC cases none of the servers have HDs (had to yank them by request)

where can I donate old gear?

I got some old gear like servers and random parts that I simply dont have the room to keep anymore. I dont want to throw it away so I was wondering if anyone knew of any programs that collect and reuse this stuff... Im guessing schools could use it, but I havent found any good leads. anyone...

Thanks for that link StormSide, but it wont work in my case. It still piggybacks off of the IE thats installed and doesnt seem to obey the proxy settings I have in my portable FF... and that's the biggest problem. I need the portable browsers to maintain different proxy settings than what the...

Ive used portable FF, and it works great. But for some IE only sites, is there a trustable portable IE I can use? Thanks!

how can I find the IP of a windows box remotely?

wow, i totally spaced out and didnt remember that windows network names work like dns names and are pingable as long as you have a nmb (or whatever) daemon running. thanks!

how can I find the IP of a windows box remotely?

hey guys, at work I have a windows machine that I only need to use once or twice a month. my main other workstation is a Mac, which I use most of the time. I have only one monitor and no kvm switch (for now). So, in the meantime, I'd rather just set up VNC or something and remote into it...

Server mem question - Dell PowerEdge 1800

I know this is a simple question, but I have a dell poweredge 1800 that currently has 2x512 RAM. The RAM is micron ecc reg ddr2 400. Servers are picky so I cannot stick any other ecc ram that I have. Question: since I can buy ram much cheaper than from Dell, would there be any reason why...

how do I measure power 'cleanliness'?

One of our cages in a remote location has servers constantly complaining about small power outages. We suspect the power in there is not clean or flaps. Can we use a multimeter of some kind to log any power anomalies? I am not sure how this would have to be set up... would the multimeter simply...

winXP display settings messed up
