Because their cards become EVEN MORE APPEALING, the lower their prices are. Ofc, to take FULL ADVANTAGE, they need to have availability ... Over here "in my neck of the woods", prices for the 9070 XT @ my usual online shop, range between 700€ and 900€: i'd have no problem with 800€ ... but...

I get what you're saying, but the problem isn't that they're selling their cards @ much higher prices: it's that they're selling their cards @ MUCH HIGHER prices.

When i said "a significant %", i was thinking along the lines of 15%+ overall: enough to overtake whatever card's performance nVidia will have closest to it @ launch, but WITHOUT resorting to changing the wattage to do it.

What are the odds AMD releases "new drivers" a bit after launch that boost the 9000 series by "a significant %", in order to catch nVidia "with their pants down"? IMO, the odds are EXTREMELY LOW ... but i wouldn't mind "being disappointed" if they weren't ...

They didn't buy AMD CPUs either ... until ZEN. What changed, when Zen arrived? They priced it VERY AGGRESSIVELY. So they have a history of doing EXACTLY THIS, with CPUs, and IT WORKED then: why can't it work now, with GPUs?

It's PAINFULLY OBVIOUS the current tactics of selling similar performing cards for slightly less or slightly better performing cards for the same price as their nVidia counterparts DON'T WORK, so it's about time they resort to some "more drastic measures". The idea is to "change that mindset"...

The only way i see for AMD to increase their mindshare SIGNIFICANTLY is by offering GPUs @ "mainstream" prices WITH "enthusiast" level of performance: it would cost AMD quite a lot, ESPECIALLY @ current wafer prices, but IT SHOULD pay off in the long run, because it would COMPLETELY disrupt...

This is DESPICABLE. They should find out all the people affected by this, and have their insurance companies convicted and ordered to pay FIVE TIMES the REAL value to EACH person affected.
