Choosing between two oscilloscopes.

You really can't go wrong with either scope. Tek does make some good stuff. Rigol is a bit lower end, so you MAY have to deal with some firmware bugs, but Rigol also makes good, solid stuff. I would give Tek an "A" and Rigol a "B+."

I try to avoid latches whenever possible. On my current project, we have a rule: the clock scheme must fit on one letter-size paper drawn with a dull crayon. I work at Agilent.

simple question about a cyclotron

The electric field DOES just cause them to go back and forth, if that was all that it did. There is also a magnetic field too. Moving electrons experience a sideways force as they move through a field, which causes them to go in a circle.

Phone Interviews

At my current job (ASIC designer), I had a phone screen -- job in Colorado, I was in Florida at the time. It was VERY technical. After 45 minutes, I felt like I had done three rounds with Mike Tyson. So, is it a technical interview?

Hmmmm. I am more of a digital expert, but the first thing that pops into my head is to get a couple of op-amps. Set each to unity gain, and hook up the inputs to each end of the sensor. Op-amps typically have a very high input impedance (get the one with the highest impedance you can find)...

Space Elevator

The REAL reasons a space elevator will never happen... 1) Begin stuck next to strangers in an elevator for a couple of hours. The awkward silence to the 10th floor is NOTHING compared to this baby. 2) Hours of elevator music would cause anybody to kill themselves.

Effect of EM on computer
