I would add that the TPU test protocol mostly use DX11, and that's partially why they get that bad results for Vega regarding others websites.

Less than 6GB if VRAM for a ~1070Ti equivalent GPU would be a really dumb idea according to me... Edit : Not even speaking about GDDR5 vs GDDR6 versions... There already was a real gap between a GTX 1060 3GB vs GTX 1060 6GB, but a RTX 2060 3GB GDDR5 vs a RTX 2060 6GB GDDR6...

Whom is still rocking an Athlon / Phenom II (even X6), or a Core2Duo/Quad? X58 users too.

Just a few months ago my father was still using an Athlon II x2 215 and the onboard igpu, which basically sucked xD ! I had an Athlon x4 750k and an A75 Pro4 MB, with a HD5450 1Go (DDR2 version, yes it IS possible, and that was better than the crappy IGP). That mades him a pretty good upgrade...

Solved! Athlon 200GE vs FX6100

Going into AM4 is a good choice. And the 200GE is a good placeholder. You'll be fine with it until you grab a ~180$ R5 Zen2/Zen3 CPU later ;)

I'm really not sure that is possible. A used 2500k is cheap ~50$ but Z68 /P67/H67 MB really are expensive :/.

What I would suggest you first is to install your SSD it'll already grants you a noticeable smoothness upgrade. Then test your system again, and tell us what you think about it. 79$ is cheap, but not that cheap for a CPU that old, moreover is your MB compatible ? Some AM3 MB can't sustain the...

Would it make any sense, to upgrade Ryzen 1600 to 2600 (2nd-gen)?

3.8GHz on all core for a Zen1 non-X CPU is pretty good for h24 ! Didn't you try to overclock the 2600X ? However the perfomance gap with a 3600X will clearly be bigger.

The R7 1700 was and is a very good value CPU. However - especially with a capricious one - it is definitely not the CPU I would recommend for high refresh gaming. But even a 8700k or a 9700k would grant a big jump in high refresh gaming (actually there's near to no difference) for much less...

Stock vs stock you do are getting some noticeable improvements : 3.2 - 3.7GHz to 3.6 - 4.2 GHz in addition of a small IPC improvement and a better memory support. It is not a big jump, but you do get a real upgrade.
