Thanks for the extra detail on this.
You are right about SSD's being fast. I can't believe how quick my system boots up, and how fast MS Word, Excell, etc... open up.
I've not moved the NB at all yet, so it must still be at 2000mhz.
This is the next thing that I will try.
QUESTION 1: How far would you guess I could reasonably push it above 2400?
I ran a 9.5 hour MemTest at Optimized Defaults, with no issues.
I will plan to run MemTest and Prime95...
Earlier you suggested a NB setting of 2400mhz.
Should I back off on the multiplier, or just leave it at 19?
Also, what other stress test should I use to verify stability?
I did run a rather long MemTest and found no issues with RAM.
OK, I have a confirmed Prime95 test at 3.8GHz.
FFT's - Small
Duration of Test - 16 Hours
Errors - None
System Monitor - HWMonitor
OC Type - Multiplier Only (19x200 = 3800mhz)
CPU Core Voltage Setting - 1.5v (+.25v Over Normal of 1.475v)
LLC Setting - Regular
Min Core Voltage - 1.152v...

I would actually be happy with 3.8ghz.
Heck I am happy with 3.4, but want to get the most out of it that makes sence.
BTW it is a C3 stepping, lower voltage.
Thanks, that is my plan.
There is a wealth of information on what are good NB, HT, etc.... settings.
One place shared these (Let me know what you think):
CPU Freq: 225
Multi: 18 (4050mhz)
NB Multi: 12 (2700mhz)
HT Multi: 9 (2025mhz)
CPU-VID Volts: 1.475
CPU-nb Volts: 1.275
Oh man........... My Bad..........
The max out was 57c, not 37c
I have corrected that.
I believe that the temps are holding at just a bit lower at 1.5v than they did at 1.475 because I have the LLC set ar regular, and that seems to hold the voltage a lot closer to the set amount.
Still...
Well, I am now endeavoring to OC this CPU, and got it to run Prime95 small FFT'sfor a couple of hours at 3.6ghz at 1.4v, so I went up to 3.8ghz, and had to go to 1.475v (Normal Voltage on my board) to get it stable.
I ran Prime95 for a couple of hours last night, and the temps locked in at...
That is a very good question, and one that I was asking myself just yesterday.
No 1 – I am not an Intel fan, although I would consider there chips, but I have always preferred to go with AMD, more for price, and philosophical reasons I guess.
No 2 - I started with the plan of...
Thanks for the Info.
Can you also check your BIOS version as well?
I am very curious to see what it says.
Again, mine says AMD BIOS ver 7.0.3 (Unlike any of the version nos at Gig)
Thanks for the clarification.
Which version of the board do you have?
I ahve version 1.1
Also, when I see the BIOS version at it boots up, it says AMC BIOS version 7.0.3. pr 3.0.7, I can't remember which.
When I go to Gigabyte to check for BIOS updates, they have no revisions even...
