Man, I can't believe this thread is still around; I don't even have that SSD anymore. My bulk storage for pretty much everything back then was on nearline enterprise HDDs. Nowadays, I have a 16TB HDD (before the madness!) that is used only for media files and documents. Everything else is on...
It's really disappointing seeing all these nay-sayers. The Q6600 was and is a great chip to OC.
As mentioned earlier, you'll need to bump the FSB up to OC. Default FSB clock is 266MHz (1066MT/s) and the easiest OC is to just bump that to 333MHz (1333MT/s) while leaving the multiplier alone...
So I figured it out. DisplayPort was/is the problem. For whatever reason the card does not like newer DP monitors and it worked as soon as I used a passive DP to DVI adapter. I remember a few years back there being a firmware update for Maxwell and Pascal GPUs for the same issue. Was there ever...
System does indeed POST with the usual single beep. I can get into the BIOS configuration and it all works, but as soon as I try to boot anything, regardless of OS or media, the system gets stuck at a blank screen. I should also mention this is all happening via DisplayPort which I know can be...
I Just installed a low profile Lenovo GK208-based GeForce GT 730 in a Asus P5E-VM HDMI motherboard and the system POSTs but once it tries to boot from literally anything, it gets stuck at a blank screen. I can turn the system off normally; no hard shutdown required. But the system will not boot...
"2x FP32" is interesting. Would like to get some details from Ryan on what's going on there. Perhaps each CUDA core is a superscaler dual pipelined core now? If so, it's a bit disingenuous to just double the CUDA core numbers. I would be actually surprised if "2x FP32" means two separate CUDA...
Update and resolution:
Just got my 3800X in and it's completely stable and runs 100mv lower at stock on top of running at higher clocks than my 3700X. I got sold probably the worst CPU bin in history; I'm at a loss of words on this one. I've never had a CPU not able to perform to specs like...
Please fix the scaling on those graphs; in particular vermintide 2 and hitman 2 are very misleading. Some of these graphs can lead the viewer to get the wrong idea when in fact the performance is the same (within margin of error).
The CPU is bottlenecking pretty hard in some newer games but...
I would not be using any fakeRAID drivers if I were you. Try out Windows storage spaces; I'm using it right now with two 6TB SAS HDDs in a mirror and performance is pretty good and it's portable.
Honestly I'm not sure it's the lack of IMC. If we look at K10, the performance is similar I believe to Core 2 in games if not slightly slower. K10 also lacks SSSE3 and SSE4.1 which has prevented some more recent games from even running at all because they take advantage of SSSE3 and sometimes...
