I have a roughly similar setup:
i5 2500K
16gb ram
Gigabyte GTX 780 ghz
550W PSU
lots of hard drives/SSDs
And I've run skyrim with lots of mods and 8x MSAA + 2x SSAA at 2560x1440, at 60fps. Getting the right mods is important, there was one grass mod that killed my FPS for instance. I haven't...
I have this 550W XFX PSU:

I'm thinking of upgrading from GTX 560 Ti to GTX 780:

This is the rest of my system:
ASUS P8P67 LE P67 1155
i5 2500K @ 4.0ghz
16GB 1600mhz ram

Putting pagefile into a ramdisk is pointless unless I'm missing something obscure. You only need pagefile if you run out of ram. So leave your extra 8gb of ram free and you won't need the pagefile at all. That's what I do.

The only reasonable use case I've thought of for myself is to use...
Do you have the 100352-3L or 100352-2L?
The 3L has dual link, this 2L does not, according to newegg. The 3L is just $30 more.
Not a big deal, but it's good to be clear.
This variant doesn't have a dual link DVI port. Does that mean it can't run a 2560x1440 resolution? Or do you just need to get an adapter for one of the other ports?
Looking at the newegg reviews, the m4 seems to have a slightly higher proportion of failures, so I've held out for the 830 to come down in price. The m4 has already been this low.
As a programmer, I'd save £80 and get the i5-2500k. I'd also second mfenn's suggestions, and say use the extra money for another monitor in the nearer future.
I just got one of the 27" Korean IPS monitors and it is wonderful compared to my previous 22" for coding. (As well as everything else.)
When you see "$139 shipped" it means you only have to pay $139 to get it shipped to you. None of the examples you gave used that exact phrase "$__ shipped". It's a minor point, but it does matter.
