Finally got my Papst 412/2 (3pin).
At full speed (6000rpm) it isn't as silent as I expected, but if I lower to around 4500rpm it's becoming difficult to hear it (I bought a Zalman Fan Mate 2).
My ears can finally rest... :D
If your case is prepared you can use one or the other output (my Thermaltake Tsunami came with audio return wires, I don't know if this is common). But you can't use both at the same time. If both outputs are used, the rear MoBo connection stays silent.
The MoBo has 3pin connectors for the fans: CPU, Case and Chipset.
Some people arrived to the conclusion that CPU & Case fans can be controlled by software (SpeedFan, for example), but the chipset fan, for some mysterious reason, can't be controlled.
So the only difference between the 4 and 3...

Some people (including myself) are taking the Papst route...
I think these files are not important, they are only need for the installation. You should keep the original installer and that's all, so yes, you can remove these files.
I also ordered a Papst, but the 412/2 version, which has a 3pin molex, so I could plug it into the motherboard and monitor the RPM.
I'll tell you my experience next week, when the fan arrives (I hope).
I support what Leo777 asked.
I'm also planning to buy a Papst 412, but is there something special to be done or it's just to unscrew the Asus chipset fan ?

Yesterday I tried a new PCI Express card, a MSI 6600 GT, and it worked at the first try, so it is true that there are many graphic cards defective...
What do you mean by "the small power cord" ?
My VGA doesn't have any additional power connector to connect.
I plugged: the 24 pin EPS, the 12V rail (on the other side, near the CPU) and the EZ Plug (Molex for the SLI, not necessary, but does not hurt, I think...).
The MoBo POSTs (the...
Hi.
Related to the recent discussion... I have yet to see anything on screen (the led stays orange - should change to green), the Post Reporter keeps saying: "System failed VGA test".
I installed just the CPU, RAM and Graphics board, tried the blue and black PCI Express slots, both trying...
Hi.
No luck for me ;(
Post Reporter keeps saying: "System failed VGA test".
I installed just the CPU, RAM and Graphics board, tried the blue and black PCI Express slots, both trying the switch in single and dual graphics mode, and both with and without pushing the switch card...
