Best Buy has the Garmin Nuvi 255wt on sale for $180 this week. They have the Magellan RoadMate 1440 (4.3", TTS and no traffic, bluetooth, media player) for $144.
For $10 more ($89.99) I see the 3250 (refurb) at TigerDirect (as of Sat 11/29). It comes with the 6M POI, AAA Tourbook, live traffic capability, Bluetooth and other stuff. It -may- also have a headphone jack. That I'm not sure of since I have the 3225 which despite pictures indicating it has...
Microsoft is loving this because their inefficient programmers can now spec the minimum recommended RAM for Windows 7 and Office 2010 at 4GB. Lovely!
It may vary with the manufacturer and retailer but TigerDirect has a number of refurb models (for brands they are authorized to sell) and they appear to have full warranties.
I've used two identical Plantronics headsets with my Centro. I also purchased them at the same time from the same supplier so they could have been from the same manufacturing batch.
Even with the same (default) passcode they are uniquely identified.
I wonder when they will start shipping that version of the software installed on new units. At the rate prices are dropping it would likely make more sense to buy a new unit for $125-$150 than buy an $80 DVD. You would have a spare GPS for $45-$70 over the price of the DVD.
As a 3225 owner...
Did you have both downloaded files in the same folder and with the same name (unchanged) as downloaded? It took me a few tries too since I tend to modify the names of files when I download them.
I used unrar(command line). One file is created from the two parts. You only need to reference...
The 32xx and 31xx are pretty similar especially after the recently released Magellan 31xx update. Keeping in mind, as mentioned at the link below, hacking can result in bricking.

David Goeken seems to have figured out some things...
The 3225 has POI data for all regions that it has maps for (US48, Alaska, Hawaii, Canada, Puerto Rico). The 6M figure for POI data is actually the total for all regions. As mentioned earlier in the quite long thread, the larger US48 file has ~4.8M POI. The larger US48 POI file is the only one...
What features are important to you? If you value support, Magellan may not be the brand for you. There is no shortage of old and new horror stories about tons of phone time, months for repair and relatively high repair costs. Dunno how that will be now that unit prices are much lower than...
Though bluetooth is a standard, some phones work better (or worse) with certain models of headsets. You may want to specify your phone model when you ask for recommendations.
If you want one to use primarily in your care you may not car about size. If that is the case I like my Plantronics...
