It was a close thing between the Frye's 9600 GSO and this one but finally settled on the smaller 'risk' via a smaller rebate.
I am in the building materials supply business as well albeit the wholesale distribution side and this isnt anything all that unusual. Lowes has moved into then out of Oklahoma City at least once in the last 20 years. By that I mean they shut down every single store in the central Oklahoma...

The 256meg GT version is around $135 shipped after MIR as well, supposedly easy to flash to pro speeds although I have not tried myself.
Wow! Didnt realize they had such a bad rep. I bought from them based on their 4 star google/froogle rating. My camcorder came in fine with no additional problems but seeing their history I would not suggest buying from them now.

I put one in my nephews AMD 3800+ box running a x1900GT, 7200.10 disk, Audigy2VS, and 1gig Patriot memory and so far its been flawless. My only real concern is it seems they saved money by going with some undersized heat sinks which could lead to heat problems when under load....but none so far...
Thanks for the assistance! It turns out it was indeed the power supply after all was said and done. The good news being I think my friend can now disassemble and reassemble his computer in the dark while blindfolded due to the variations we tried in an attempt to localize the problem ;)...
