Dying hard drive or paranoia?

Had a hard drive in my main 24/7 machine become un-recognized. Lucky for me, I had another drive laying around. The bad drive came back after cooling off. Used a free unix utility called CloneZilla to clone the drive. Was going to RMA the drive back to Seagate, but the web site...

How much data do you have backed up with Carbonite or Mozy?

Online backup is another safety net. Everyone reading this should have all their important stuff in more than one place. Multiple computers, external hard drives, DVDs, Tapes, offsite.

Any difference between DVD burners?

Consider a Blue Ray burner from Pioneer. $200 but then you can burn 50 gig blue ray discs to back up all your data. Right now the discs cost $10 each, but that price should come down.

252 gigs of 450 on my Dreamhost web account. I uploaded all my pictures, music, and other directories manually using FTP. Took me 6 months, upload speed on Bellsouth is only 50K or less than 1 meg. And the biggest file I can upload is about 200 meg. Anything bigger and the FTP times...

Need several TB of storage, concerned about 2TB drive reliability
