I had a similar type of visual problem with my 8mb Matrox video card.. it would work for random periods of time, it would bring up many vertical green or pink lines rendering the display pretty much useless. A reboot would go back to normal before it would eventually happen again.

I usually check about once a day for Office/WinXp but haven't had much luck yet... I saw some crappy Xbox game available once, but holding out for something useful.
It's rather convenient that the site only works in IE v6, but not in Firefox (or even IE5), but I expect nothing less from MS...
If you buy two 512MB (hopefully identical branded) sticks of Ram, you will be able to run in Dual channel if your motherboard supports dual channel (and the Ram you bought). You would have 1024 MB of Dual channel Ram.
(If you bought two 256MB sticks, you would have 512MB dual channel ram)
In the forum, sure... but in emails it's possible to spoof links to appear very legitimately so they actually go to a different site when clicked...
Personally I write most links into the webbrowser window address bar manually, which could be a bit overly paranoid, but fairly safe.

Your subwoofer might not be magnetically shielded, and should not be placed right beside a PC Tower. Give it at least a few feet clearance from the Tower and/or other electronic devices IMO.
I got the MX510 for $30 after deals, which is pretty reasonable. Now I just need to wait 3-5 business days for it to be shipped and I'll be set.
The only thing left to get is a nice shiny new computer to match but that's another thread lol.
