After playing games, computer comes to halt

My friend will be playing css or ut2004 and his computer just fine for 30-45 minutes, and then it will suddenly drop to 2 fps. We ran a memtest for over 16 hours with no errors. I surface checked his hard drive and there are no errors (although his hard drive temp climbed to 62C, 7 degrees...

Operating temperature of pentium m

Just got in some results from other friends - one guy's pentium m runs around 82C during games, another hits 71C during a cpu burn. These things run hot compared to my desktop's athlon 64.

My friend has a dell inspiron 600m with a 1.8 ghz pentium m. He's been having some trouble in counter strike with it so I am running some tests on it. After about a half hour of cpu burn, the cpu is roughly 72C. Is that normal? What's the max temp range? Thanks!

Need a quiet Power Supply

Don't waste your money on a silenx psu. I had one (an iXtrema 350), and it was too loud. SilenX are also overpriced if you ask me. They are simply repackaged fortron source psu's with a "silenx 14 db fan" (that isn't really 14 db). I ended up getting a seasonic S12-380. works great, and is...

i got an audigy 2 zs for $64 shipped from best byte computers. a dedicated sound card will lighten the CPU's load during games, which can increase performance.

athlon 64's don't put out much heat. Perhaps with a scythe ninja, and some underclocking you may able to get it running passive. GF2 MX's come with passive cooling. Also, PC2100 RAM does not need any cooling. Though, your hard drive is still going to be heard. If you get a good active...

hard drive brands

the difference between PATA and SATA isn't really important, as no modern hard drives really reach the maximum transfer rate (be it 133 or 150) anyway. However, because the raptor is 10,000, it might be better to get it. I have one, and it's not that loud. All 2005 WD drives have FDBs, too.

Any DVD-/+RW's (or any ATAPI devices) have use for 80 pin wire

hmmm.... i plugged in some 80 wires, and my bios is reporting the drives as UDMA/66 now.

What nForce4 Ultra Socket-939 mobo has the least problems and is simplest to run?

on my msi nforce board, i had to mod the zalman just a bit (a pair of pliers will do the trick, the metal is very soft). I am using a zalman vf700alcu on my gpu.

machine check exception

I have a msi k8n neo4-f (nforce 4 standard). And you only got the machine check exception error during games, just like me. And you have a geforce 6600 gt, just like me. hmmm.. Do you think your mobo was defective or that the error came because of a compablity issue?

read the anandtech review. i think the fsb wouldn't go farther than 233 mhz because of limitations (although 233 was stable say'eth anandtech).
