These cars (plug-in hybrid) don't make sense to own unless gas price double. And by then, I can imagine electricity price will go up with it.
If you want to save money, get a used econobox. If you want to save the environment, move closer to your work or a city where you can live without a car.
Even if it doesn't compete with the V10 R8, there are good amount of vehicles for $150k people could choose over this car. How about comparing this to a GT-R? It is really overpriced for a piece of "tradition" along with the car.
Don't get me wrong, I still love this car's design from every...
The sample size is too little. If you are consistently getting 22-23 mpg highway, then I would say you might have a problem. I attempted to drive conservatively to save gas on my Celica once and that tank ended up doing only 22mpg, while I do 26 mpg most of the time on lead foot driving.
I highly doubt that the full 240,000 will buy a Volt at the end of the day - if they are being offered one at full price. These are potential customers that will probably cross shop all the hybrid cars.

Those same god-damned SUVs that drive the "New GM" back on profitability?
Pretty much on point. Its for those idiots over at Beverly Hills who think buying a Prius will save the earth (while their 5000 sqft mansion will take an impressive amount of energy to cool down from the California heat). This car is such a marketing hoax. And remember the Volt "230 MPG" banner...
