When to expect an IPAD alternative?

well, a tiny screen is a godsend in case of an emergency bug fix... I think as soon as (if) they enable flash, iPad would be the perfect internet appliance for home kitchen, sofa, ebook/pdf reading, etc however, its not really a netbook tablet competitor though... too many restriction due...

you are not making sense... you run 1024x600 on your 26 inch monitor? i use vs on 1024x600 ONLY in emergency, not at work nor at home... as a developer, it is a must to have emergency access to development tool at all times (even on vacation).

nice OC! my x3 710 only goes up to 2.9 ghz locked or unlocked... my x3 435 was able to unlock and oc to about 3.2ish... was thinking of getting a x2 555 rig however it seems x3 still has a better chance of unlocking...

in regards to instant on, my t91 go from sleep to on with wifi within 3seconds, same as my friend's ipad. in regards to weight, its 2.1lb, only a little bit heavier... but in regards to battery, no doubt ipad got it right. screen is also better with ips. ipad cpu isn't as fast as atom...

read before you respond... I did say ipad is faster, and yes its battery last longer. resistive touchscreen is way over hyped, the difference isn't that great after you use it for a while. and please, before you comment, go to your friend and try it out, it ain't bad. now, the downside...

thickness really don't affect things too much as long as it is not too thick... netbook tablet is actually smaller in dimension than your ipad, has real keyboard, touch pad, usb , camera, etc. its not slow, it runs the same as your typical netbook. it does not run hot, actually it runs...

exactly! I'm using Asus T91 and it works great for what i need... internet surfing, ebook reading, pdf reading, occasional remote desktop, programm etc yes it supports flash and etc so i'm not restrcted to which website I can go to... its 2x as thick as ipad (when folded as a tablet)...

most of the time, a antivirus is preinstalled on a netbook that makes it super slow. examples: symantec antivirus, Mcaffy antivirus those software contains a "security suit/desktop/firewall" that craps down the system. the biggest reason is most of these software were made for dualcore cpu...

adios netbooks?

actually... kindle gives you unlimited lifetime internet (some models world wide unlimited lifetime internet)... no flash, color etc and its slow.. but.. it does work for simple checking email. and battery life is simply amazingly on kindle...
