Network media player with HEVC (4k, 10-bit)

That's crazy talk. A finished NUC will cost twice as much as a shield, the Xbox is obviously a good value because it can play games but the shield will run circles around it for media playback. The shield stays dead quiet while playing high bitrate 2160p60 10bit hevc files. Good luck getting any...

Just got my first pair of good IEMs (Westone W60). What else do I need?

Doesn't anyone have the iPad Pro 12.9?

Same here, pro 12.9 plus keyboard and pencil is my main computing device. I do have an old windows laptop running in clamshell that I RDP to do certain things, but 99% of my work is performed on the iPad. Would never go back to a MacBook, portability and battery life on the iPad is miles better...

I miss Slide to Unlock

You must have a 6 or earlier? If you have a 6S or later device you simply raise to wake, with your finger resting on touch ID and the phone unlocks. Slide to unlock is simply not needed anymore, the change in iOS 10 is a precursor to a future button-less iPhone.

Does the iPad or iPhone get slower if you use all of your space or just about?

No, not as long as there is enough space for the OS to write whatever it needs to write. IME, hiccups don't really occur until there is less than 1 GB of free space, and serious slowdowns (and other issues) start when there is less than 100 MB available.

Anyone have a "quantum dot" display?

Blacks are a bit better because it uses a blue backlight instead of a white one, but black level is nowhere near OLED, so neither is contrast ratio. The real strengths are that they are brighter than standard LCD and they have greater gamut (both of which are needed for HDR), that's it.
