any news on the Dell 2707WFP?

Just doing a Google search and came across this, doesn't appear to be anything new since March. I am hoping that the price on this is at a good position (~$1250-$1500). It seems to be a good compromise on resolution and size. Need to get either a 24" or a 27" for my media center...

A pivotal moment in my computer build

I had a similair problem when trying to upgrade an older Socket A system, but the key with the A64 architecture is that the memory controller has nothing to do with the mainboard, since it is all integrated on chip. When the Revision E3 (E6 maybe?) chips came out and added 250 memory dividers...

Media Center will not start in Safe Mode

I'm having trouble with our media center computer, three nights ago it stopped booting normally, taking it to the Safe Mode boot list (where you pick between Last Known Good Configuration, Normal, Safe Mode, Safe Mode w/ Networking, Safe Mode w/Prompt, etc.) and no matter what is picked it...

Uninstalling Grub Boot Loader

I haven't touched my Linux partition since I installed it and I want to clean that out, along with uninstalling GRUB, which is prohibiting me from changing my Hard Drive configuration. I am concerned that simply running fixmbr or fixboot will erase the partition table, and thus clear my data...

So I just yanked an entire USB port out of a computer...

Hey all, I was running downstairs to get something, and I had a spare box I've been working on that was on the floor. The USB mouse cord was across the room and I tripped over it and took the mouse out, which yanked the prong inside the usb port out of the computer and dented up the usb...

How long does a processor last

Hah, I used a Pentium III 500 Mhz for 7 years until I got my present rig, and it's STILL running downstairs as a temporary media center. Our local elementary schools still use Apple IIe's for the Oregon Trail and other educational programs. CPUs last as long as you want them to. Jaimie

Hi, Will ECC RAM work with my processor (3400+ Newcastle) and motherboard (DFI LanParty UT nF3 250Gb)? The reason of asking is that my normal RAM is being RMAed at the moment, and I have access to some ECC RAM that I could use in the meanwhile... Timely response would be appreciated...

First time builder

The problem lies in the power supplies bundled with cases, not the Fortron 500w you selected. My case came with a power supply, which actually became really useful when I had a ThermalTake cop out on me :( . I purchased the Fortron as a replacement, and it's an amazing powersupply, obscenely...
