I was right. Despite the vitriol and censorship that has been directed my way over the past year, I have been right about everything.
Zen 5 was underwhelming.
Arrow Lake was underwhelming.
Snapdragon X was underwhelming.
M4 looks to be pretty underwhelming too.
It's 5-10% in most benchmarks, besides AMD's cherry-picked tests. And 5.1 is far closer to what these chips will actually run at in real-world conditions than people's delirious 6 GHz fantasies.
AMD is a for-profit company. If they had a game-changing product, they'd price it accordingly. Zen5 is not a game-changing product, and that's reflected by the fact that prices appear to be Zen4 launch prices at most.
Aged like fine wine in my opinion considering even AMD themselves say that Zen5 won't beat Zen4 X3D, and David's testing confirming that AMD is not sandbagging Zen5 at all lmao (in fact they're overhyping it, looking more like 6% for most use cases rather than 16%)
It's pretty obvious Granite Ridge, and desktop Ryzen in general, is pretty much an afterthought at this point. And why wouldn't it be, given that it is a tiny minority of the market.
