SATA DVD Drive not Bootable?

How do I set a SATA port to Legacy IDE? Are you saying to do that or not do that?

SATA DVD Drive not Bootable?

My HD died. So, I need to boot to a DVD to reinstall my OS. The problem is, my PC isn't booting to my DVD, despite the fact I have gone into the setup screen and set the boot order to pick CD/DVD first. For some reason, I don't think the PC has ever seen the DVD drive until Windows loads...

i turned on my PC, 2 secs later it shuts off.

It can also mean your motherboard is dead.

Well, in essence I did try that. I ordered the only Black NEC DVD Burner that NewEgg carries. Problem is, technology changes and OEM stuff could be anything.

Looking for anyone that can point me to a fast CD-Ripping DVD burner for my HTPC. I bought an NEC at Newegg, but it turned out to be a rebadged Optiarc (sony?) and only rips CD's at 6-7x. I have another real NEC that rips at 20x and higher, but it came in a PC so I don't know which model to...

Anyone Know anything about Windows Home Server?

I was googling Windows Home server because it sounded like it might be the solution I need to centralize all media in my house. I read though, on a blog, that it cannot be used to store MCE TV recordings. I wonder why.
