  1. Mini-ITX Gaming Rig - Need Review!

Thanks for the info, I guess I trusted PCPartPicker's compatibility check a bit too much. Recommendations on a very small mATX case that would work better?
  2. Mini-ITX Gaming Rig - Need Review!

This is the first time I've built a Mini-ITX device aimed at gaming and I want to ensure I have everything lined up correctly for my intended purposes. I appreciate the review! Info: 1. What YOUR PC will be used for. I will be using the machine exclusively for gaming, along with...
  3. X61 rattling woes

I've experienced this with my X61 and have RMA'd it twice, only to have the same issue on each unit. The problem occurs no matter which mode is selected in CAM. NZXT support told me it was a known issue and swapped my last X61 for an X60 until the issue was fixed with their supplier.
  4. Benq BL3200PT 32" 2560x1440 monitor

I've owned this monitor for over a month and absolutely love it. It's huge and I don't notice any lag when gaming. Color reproduction is solid as is the construction. It won't compete with the high speed TN panels for gaming, but I'm really happy I made the leap on this one.
  5. Newegg has 7970s in stock

Any benefit to the black edition other than a slight factory overclock of the core/memory?
  6. Suggestions on New Gaming Rig

Thanks for the feedback. I definitely will drop the Killer NIC. I'm still a little hesitant to let go of the X-Fi simply because I love the Dolby Digital Live functionality when connected to my Logitech Z-5500 speakers. I dropped the PSU down to an 850W Corsair Gold Series and think the...
  7. Suggestions on New Gaming Rig

The background: 1. I am putting this machine together for two purposes: Gaming and General Office/Home Use. 2. I am looking to keep the entire build under $2,200 USD w/o Display 3. I live in the US. 4. Not a fan-boy, Intel or AMD, ATi or nVidia. I don't care as long as I get the best...
  8. Anyone have the Harmony One remote?

If you don't need RF, the Harmony One is an excellent solution. I have owned about four different Harmony remotes over the years and the One is by far my favorite. Excellent button layout, rechargeable battery, and Logitech's software has drastically improved over the years. Amazon has them...
  9. VMware learning

Being a VCP in VI3 and vSphere, I can definitely say that virtualization is an exciting field to be in! I agree that trying the software out and learning as you go is a great first step. Secondly, there are a number of great books out there... Check out...
  10. Recommend a good UPS?

I usually plug all of my equipment into 1-2 surge protectors and then hook those up to the UPS. Never had an issue and it works great. Just don't overload the surge protectors!
  11. Video Card Upgrade

Thanks for all the replies. The PSU is only a few months old, as this system is kind of a mixing pot of HTPC and leftover parts I put together. I think I'll try the 4890 with the current PSU and see what happens. Worst case scenario I get a new power supply!
  12. Video Card Upgrade

My current system: Intel Core 2 Quad Q9550 2.83GHz Gigabyte GA-E7AUM-DS2H G.Skill 4GB DDR2-800 RAM (2x2GB) BFG 9600GT OC 512MB Video Card Antec 900 Tower Case Corsair CMPSU-450VX 450W PSU Western Digital 1TB Hard Drive LG Blu-ray Burner Dell 3007WFP Question: When I originally...
  13. How many of you IT guys build your own work servers (IE Lenovo)?

What kind of a SAN is it? Fiber Channel or iSCSI? If FC, do you have a 1, 2 or 4GB connection? If iSCSI, are you sharing a switch for access? Are you using hardware or software initiators? What kind of arrays are you configuring on the SAN? For a DB server, I would recommend the Databases...
  14. Air Mouse Pro - On sale for $2 right now

This app works great under OS X and Windows 7. Definitely a cool toy...
  15. Geforce 9400 Chipset and Dell 3007WFP (2560x1600)

Gigabyte e-mailed me and said it was capable of 2560x1600. I have relented and order a cheap video card to drive the monitor, got a 9600GT for $45 after MIR. Since I'm not looking to play games, this card should do fine. Thanks for the help.
