Help! System won't POST after shutting down?

Before you do that, do you have any usb card readers or printers turned on and connected? They cause me not to post until I turn them off. If that's not the case then try replacing the battery.

Why doesn't my motherboard POST when my USB printer is plugged in? (Asus P5B Deluxe)

Same here, with a P5W DH motherboard. It's somewhat annoying, though of course easily worked around, like you mentioned. Another issue is that if I keep anything plugged into the bottom two USB ports in the back panel, the computer powers up within 5 seconds after I shut down through...

8800GTS 512MB and Vista 64 Upgrade

Agreed. As nice as it is to have Ultimate, I have next to no need of the extra features, other than peace of mind in the oft-chance that I would need them in the future. Well now that I think about it, it did have the 64bit dvd's in the box, which was nice. But otherwise... Just make sure...

Trusted Execution Technology basically means there are ways to prevent your CPU from running programs that some people don't want to run. e.g. in a very oversimplified example, if I were an adult and I didn't want my kids playing video games, I can tell the computer through a special program...

PSU is making a "chirping" sound

Just a quick and dirty update; I tried what you said, and it is indeed the fan. Funnily enough, after I took out the thing that stopped the fan, the fan started spinning and hasn't made any of those noises again. Cool beans and thanks much, m.

Thanks for responding! The unit is an Antec Neo NE 550W psu. And I hope my description is good enough, but to me it definitely sounds like a chirp, rather than a whiny noise, which now that you mention it, would make more sense if a capacitor was going bad.

XP MCE 2005 OK for P5W DH Deluxe?

E6600 Temperature nightmare :(

I was always under the impression that TAT and CoreTemp measured "core temperatures", which usually translates to being 3-5 degrees higher than "cpu temperatures." Meaning, 40 degrees on TAT means a CPU temp around 35 degrees. If that's the case, your temperatures are better than average.

"Icons and Views" in Vista

Basically, Vista randomly is resetting my icon preferences when I view folders. For example, when I open a folder and go to "view" on the toolbar, I always set it to a specific way, which is usually "Medium Icons." It stays that way until Vista randomly decides it wants to change everything...
