Oh yeah I did unplug the power LED but not the HDD. I prefer to know visually if my system is on(when the monitor is not). No biggie. I can also put transparent red film over the light too. If light from your system is does not intrude into a place you want to be dark then this issue is moot...
I know this thread is old but I am going to add that I have very recently built and used systems with both the Define R4 and 550D. Keep in mind these are systems with Gigabyte Z87X-UD4H, 4770K, 2x8GB, and single GTX 760 card. One has Samsung SSD w/ 2x2TB RAID 1 array and other is Samsung SSD w/...
Just an FYI this series of laptops had a lot of problems. Do a google search and you'll see. A couple people I know have had to send theirs in twice for repairs.
I got this 2 weeks ago and promptly sent it back. It is horrible out of the box though after calibrating it is much better, it is still pretty poor overall. Since it is a big monitor the viewing angle issues of TN panels become even more noticeable. I was so horrified by the screen I splurged...
NwEgg's LCD return/dead pixel policy is of more concern than it being a TN panel, though TN panels are absolutely horrible. I swear, anyone who thinks a TN panel is ok for any except gaming must never have used one more than a few minutes... They are a horrible, horrible, display technology...

I got mine last Fall and the darn thing has the blank screen on power up issue. I turn it on and it displays the screen for a moment and then goes blank. Repeating the power on cycle a dozen or so times finally gets me a viewable screen.. Anyone else have this issue?
Pretty sure that is incorrect. I don't think any 50" plasmas have that resolution. This one is 1366x768...typical of most plasmas, and is just fine for this size a screen.
I am not sure why being nearsighted would require glasses with this gizmo. I don't wear my glasses when using binoculars. I adjust the focus to match my eyes. I can see just fine when stuff is close to my eyes, in fact better than 99.9% of the world actually. That is why they call it NEAR...
