Turn off the Bubble Machine

Thanks, everyone, but I already tried to find it in the Registry with no luck. I think it is started from another process. It brings boot up to a dead stop, performs a bunch of compatibility tests, removes itself, and bootup continues. I was hoping this forum had an ATI expert!

Turn off the Bubble Machine

How do I stop the ATI System Compatibility Checker from running every time Win 2000 boots up? I know the file is ATI2SGAG.EXE, but I can't find what's starting it. (Getting nothing but robotic gibberish from ATI.) Thanks!

Smartsearch Browser Hijack

CWShredder removes the registry entries, but does not find the program itself, so all the junk is reinstalled at next bootup. After you run CWShredder, the Smartsearch variant of CoolWebSearch changes its coding to shut down CWShredder after it runs for a few seconds (!). It does the same thing...

Smartsearch Browser Hijack

Any of you folks had your browser taken over by the Smartsearch scumbags? This is a truly insidious hijack, and none of the popular adware programs recognize it. I can't seem to locate the startup prog that repeatedly messes with my registry. Thanks for your help!

We're all used to various dirty tricks used by "online markerters" to sell junk. But these scumbags take the cake for the absolute scummiest: "Live Portal Online" (lop.com). You name it; they do it: Dozens of registry entries, Many scamware programs secretly installed on your computer...

which board?: asus a7n266-vm or biostar m7vig pro?

Would any of you guys who recommend the A7N266 dare try to use it with Windows 98 or Windows 98 SE? (Our school wants to upgrade hardware but not op sys.)

Older motherboard won't recognize 128 DIMM

I had the exact same problem. It's not the total size of the dimm, and its not double sided v. single sided. Its the size of the individual ram chips which make up the dimm. The Asus P2B memory system can support only up to 64Mbit chips. Your dimm uses 256Mbit chips. (4 x 256). It ain't...

Help with P2B

Trying to salvage an old P2B for a first grader. Asus seems to have removed the P2B Manual from their web sites. (Unless I'm spastic.) Anyone know where I can download a P2B manual. (not the L or S or LS models... the plain ole P2B... a great board!) Or maybe you know where the IDE LED hooks...

Do you use VIA drivers with MSI KT3 Ultra/Win2K?

This has probably been covered b4, but I can't find it... With MSI KT3 Ultra MB running Windows2000 do you install any or all of the 4 in 1 driver set?
